Dr Sawaya's main research interest is in cervical cancer screening with particular interest in screening older women, cost-effectiveness and cost-utility as well as new approaches to population-based screening. He is the director of San Francisco General Hospital's Colposcopy and Cervical Dysplasia Clinic. Dr. Sawaya's clinical services include colposcopy, cytology follow-up, on-site cryotherapy, consultation, and referral for other surgical services related to cervical dysplasia.
